Untitled

22” x 44”

Acrylic

2000

Done during a period I felt lacked inspiration, this painting went into storage, not to be seen for four years.  When I finally saw it again, I was quite unimpressed, wanting to drastically change it but not knowing how.  Everything about it disturbed me, from the form of the body to the colors of the background.  It seemed juvenile and weak, but this disgust for my own work was the impetus to create something of which I could really proud.

The true enjoyment of this painting was the ability to watch a change from the original to a new version.  My understanding of form and color has greatly developed over the four years, reflecting the personal changes in my life.  Very seldom using live models or photographs, my works don’t often reflect reality true to form.  My quest is to continue to hone my skills of drawing from my mind and my imagination.
